The word "giclee", is from the French language word meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray." A process invented in the early 1990�s, has now since come to mean any high quality ink jet print. Seriography is a printmaking technique that creates a sharp-edged image using a stencil. It was adopted by American Graphic Artists in the early 1900�s. Schaefer/Miles control the embellishment in oil paint on the canvas serigraphs.

Artwork is reproduced through offset lithography. Plates are made from the photographed piece using a photochemical process, and exposed to high-intensity light through the film an the plates taken through a litho press.
