Celebrate Wisconsin and the Arts!

| 01 November, 2011 16:07

I have discovered that writing is definitely not my forte when it is not on a note pad hand written in black marker my writing instrument of choice! Just love the bold marks.

Decided to bring an event pertaining to the arts.

The 2011 Celebration omportantf the importance of the Arts!

Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts!

November 2, Madison's Overture Center for the Arts will be where the governors, 30 years of award recipients and commissioned artists come together to remember the highlights of ceremonies past and recognize again the extraordinaryarts supporters we have among us.

Kevin and I were the commissioned artists for the Award in 2003. My how time flies!

Our many thanks go out to these generous individuals who give back by supporting the arts in Wisconsin!

Oil Painters Schaefer/Miles Storybbook entry The beginning

| 21 September, 2011 13:41

I have never done a blog before.

I even had to research and find out what it was exactly.

Blog short for Web log, wikipedia. I feel like I am on the starship enterprise. At the same time I am going back in time to art school and sitting on a stool in from of my paintings; expected to say something pertinent about my creations.

Hmmm...the work speaks for itself...I am not a writer or a philosopher; my thoughts have always been marks of color, with total joy and abandon.

Nevertheless I feel compelled to inspire others and begin this journey that my father was so adept at; story telling...his gift, one of many, for which people greatly admired him. So I decided that this blog shall be two fold. Each entry will continue the story of how my creative being developed and what I am currently working on. I am hoping that Kevin, my husband and partner in life, family, marriage and art will also find time and follow suit. This will show how our two paths crossed and intertwine with our vision on the canvas, and maybe explain it better to those who can't understand how such a creative collaboration in oil on canvas can exist.

Today's work: gathering artwork together for an art event in Lake Geneva, WI. I have just finished the summer show season in Colorado; Kevin is completing work I started over the summer. I am working on new paintings...a series of small garden paintings from sketches and studies over the years, while finishing two murals for the Tri County Memorial Hospital. I had to restock my art supplies and enjoyed every moment, new sketch books, some pastels and oil paintins. Nothing is better than new art supplies to stoke the fires of imagination; I understand Leonardo Da Vinci perfectly will- so many ideas in the minds eye and so little time...

Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.Leonardo da Vinci.

Till next week...Love, Joy and Blessings to you and yours...

Wendy Schaefer-Miles

Congratulations!
